Zero Sales Tax States of the United States

Five states in the United States that have no statewide sales tax:

  1. Alaska: Alaska does not have a state sales tax, but individual localities are allowed to impose their own sales taxes.
  2. Delaware: Delaware does not have a state or local sales tax.
  3. Montana: Montana does not have a state sales tax, but individual localities are allowed to impose their own sales taxes.
  4. New Hampshire: New Hampshire does not have a state sales tax, but it does impose a 9% tax on lodging and prepared meals.
  5. Oregon: Oregon does not have a state sales tax, but it does impose a tax on gasoline, tobacco, and alcohol.

It’s important to note that even though these states don’t have a statewide sales tax, there may still be local sales taxes in some areas. Additionally, some products and services may still be subject to taxes, such as lodging and prepared meals in New Hampshire.
